Trekking into the Heart of Borneo

Overview

In this expedition you will have the unique chance to do a jungle trekking in the heart of Borneo and explore the great nature and the traditional culture of the Dayak Bukat.
This Trail is a historical route of the Dayak Bukat people. The Bukat tribe is one of several different Dayak tribes which represent a hunting and gathering livelihood. In the past, the Bukat people used this route to transport everything between the two villages Matalunai and Na. Hovat.
The trail starts at the Kapuas river side, which is the longest river in Indonesia, and will end at the Mendalam river. Before starting the expedition, you can explore the simple and traditional livelihood of the Dayak Bukat.

To explore the diverse vegetation in the jungle we will have to cross a river and climb several river banks… be prepared for experiencing a “wet trekking”. You will have the chance to encounter many different animals at different locations along our way through the jungle. Animal calls will be heard during the whole expedition, so you can get the great feeling of exploring a real primary rain forest in the “Heart of Borneo”.

After doing jungle trekking, you will visit a traditional longhouse of genuine Dayak. There you will spend your night with the locals and be a part of the quiet, daily life – here you can feel “the life in slowly seconds”.
